Since 1992, on the Wallows Estate.
A non-destructive testing company of five, with 1,500 sq ft of workshop and the equipment for every method on this page.
ScanTech was founded in 1992. The head office at Wallows Industrial Estate in Brierley Hill holds the facilities and testing equipment for the full range of services, with excellent transport links across the Black Country and the Midlands.
Where a part cannot come to the workshop, technicians travel to the customer's site to carry out the same tests. Details of on-site work are quoted on enquiry.
“The highest quality service from skilled and qualified professionals, using the latest methods and technology within the NDT sector.”
ScanTech's stated mission
Six methods. One written procedure behind each.
Every test below is carried out by a technician certified for it, to a technique sheet agreed before the work starts.
- 01MPI Magnetic particle Surface-breaking and slightly sub-surface defects in ferromagnetic material. Workshop · on site
- 02DPI Dye penetrant Surface-breaking cracks and porosity, drawn out by a penetrating liquid applied to the surface. Workshop · on site
- 03PMI Positive material ID OES & XRF Alloy composition read as percentages of the constituent elements. Workshop · on site
- 04UT Ultrasonic Internal flaws and material characterisation, using pulse-waves from 0.1 to 15 MHz. Workshop · on site
- 05FT Ferrite Ferrite content measured from magnetic permeability with a small probe. Workshop · on site
- 06HT Equotip hardness Portable hardness testing of metallic materials, from very low to very high values. Workshop · on site
The sheet is written before the part is touched.
A report is only as good as the procedure behind it. These are the fields ScanTech fills in for a weld — blank here, because they belong to the job.
